Exploring XR

In What Way May We extend healthy independent living for seniors who are experiencing cognitive decline?

How can we create a solution through blending design, technology and community thinking, and, how can we deliver the solution on common mobile devices?

I put forward a conceptual project called I Am Home. I Am Home engages seniors in activities related to independent living, personal wellbeing and staying in contact with an Application Twin (family member or friend).

How does this work? I Am Home is an augmented reality app installed on a mobile phone or tablet. The senior is presented with 9 objects they need to find. While only 9 objects are presented, the app will contain additional items which are randomly selected with the app launches.
I Am Home
When an object is found, a question is presented to the senior that connects the object to a daily task. For example, when shoes are found the question may be about exercise.
I Am Home
After each object is found, the on-screen icon is replaced with a piece of a picture. The full picture is revealed when all 9 challenges are complete. The picture will be significant to the senior such as family, friends, a pet, a special place, or a keepsake with sentimental value.

The app will contain multiple pictures curated when the app is setup and randomly selected when the app is launched.

Finally, the senior is asked to send a note to their Application Twin letting them know they are OK.

The app will contain multiple pictures curated when the app is setup and randomly selected when the app is launched.

In short, I Am Home engages seniors in activities, reminders, memory recall and check-ins.

Thoughts and comments are welcome.
